Advanced Mediation Training

A 40 hour basic mediation training is not enough to prepare mediators for all they will encounter in this field. This training explores the research that separates expert mediators from the rest of the pack.  

Topics include interacting with attorneys, negotiation, moving past impasse, managing resistance to mediation, managing power imbalances, dealing with mistrust among parties, cultural differences, maintaining neutrality, dealing with entrenches positions and more.  30% role play.

Agreement Writing

Tuesday 2pm – 7pm MST

This intensive course teaches mediators and legal professionals the critical skill of transforming verbal agreements into precise, enforceable written documents. Participants will master the delicate balance between comprehensive clarity and practical flexibility, learning to draft agreements that capture parties’ true intentions while eliminating dangerous ambiguities that lead to future disputes. 

Through hands-on exercises and real-world examples, attendees will discover proven techniques for structuring language that prevents loopholes, addresses potential enforcement challenges, and creates a foundation for lasting compliance and cooperation.

Domestic Violence Mediation Training

Weekdays 3pm – 8pm MST, Saturday 8am – 1pm MST

This specialized course trains mediators to safely and effectively handle domestic violence cases through trauma-informed practices, power imbalance assessment, and victim protection protocols. 

Participants learn when mediation is appropriate, how to implement safety measures, and techniques for creating secure environments that prioritize survivor well-being throughout the resolution process.
